About
Emma Harner is a 21-year-old singer-songwriter, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist from Nebraska.
Emma’s Instagram Reels and Tik Tok have exploded over the past few months, starting with a cover of Manchester Orchestra’s “The Gold” that gained over 4M views on Reels and earned praise from Noah Kahan, Dodie, Orla Gartland, Andy Hull, and more. Her unique blend of folk and math rock is inspired by Radiohead, Adrienne Lenker, and Paul Simon. Emma has released two singles- “when you mean it” and “bricks and wedges”, both produced by Doug Schadt. She is hard at work on new music.
Emma’s musical journey began when she started violin lessons at the age of 2. She continued playing violin throughout her grade school education, starting to write songs she now describes as “bad” on the piano and with the ukulele, but it wasn’t until shortly before the 2020 pandemic that she picked up guitar. When lockdown hit, she started pouring every bit of her time and energy into teaching herself to play the guitar through the process of writing songs in alternate tunings. She took to it quickly, of course, and thinks of her early journey with guitar as “magic”- kind of thing that only happens to a person once. She loves studying the guitar and will never stop.
Apart from music, she loves crafts, puzzles, and television show The West Wing.
